A proposition is a statement that is true or false, not both. We can use propositions to identify the truth value of proposed statements. Whether the statements are about everyday life or just about math. We can use a conjunction or a disjunction to combine propositions. An example could be, “the grass is green” and “UH’s mascot is a cougar”. The two statements may not relate to each other, but it can be a valid proposition. Set the statement “the grass is green” as p, and “UH’s mascot is a cougar” as q. P is true, and q is true, therefore this proposition is true. There are statements that are not propositions, such as, questions or opinions. An example would be, “Is it raining outside?”, or “Dogs are cute”.
